BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the second consecutive week and the third time this season, Delta State University senior Veronica Walker has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after helping the Lady Statesmen (12-4, 5-1 GSC) move atop the GSC standings with three victories.

The senior All-American has now won GSC Player of the Week honors 10 times in her illustrious career. Delta State ran its win streak to six games, starting with a 92-74 win over Alabama-Huntsville, which was undefeated in conference play going into the game. Against UAH, she picked up her league-leading eighth double-double, scoring 17 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding four blocked shots.

For the week, she averaged 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots. Walker currently leads the GSC in points per game (19.3) and rebounds (9.4) and field goal percentage (.549).
