CLEVELAND- Delta State was led by two players that finished in double figures as the Lady Statesmen were welcomed home with open arms, not disappointing the fans with a 64-48 win over West Florida in game two of the 2008 Margaret Wade Classic Friday night at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Veronica Walker finished with 19 while teammate Moe Bell finished with 14 to lead the squad.

CLEVELAND - The No. 4 Statesmen (9-1, 8-0 GSC) of Delta State University will open play Saturday, Nov. 22, in the second round of the NCAA Football Championships against the No. 18 Pioneers of Tusculum College (9-3, 5-2 SAC) at Parker Field-McCool Stadium chasing history. Kickoff is set for noon.

CLEVELAND- The Delta State University Statesmen, eager to start the season on the right foot, did just that Monday night with a 63-60 win over the Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Alton Robinson scored the season’s first double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, as the Statesmen began the 2008-09 campaign undefeated at 1-0, while the Chargers fell to 0-1.

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Delta State University women's basketball team was looking to keep some kind of momentum entering Sunday’s game against West Florida, but it was the home team who earned their first win on the season, 58-64, on day two of the West Florida Tip-off Classic at UWF Field House. The loss drops the Lady Statesmen to 1-4 on the season. West Florida improves to 1-1.
