ABCA All-South Region Team

CLEVELAND - Senior pitcher Jason Coats capped an outstanding career for the Delta State University baseball program by being named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region Teams, as announced on Friday.

Coats, a 6-foot-2, 200 pound right-handed pitcher, turned in a memorable senior season for coach Mike Kinnison and the Statesmen, going 7-1 with a 3.17 ERA in 13 appearances for the green-and-white. 

The Starkville native made 11 starts, including two bullpen appearances, allowing just 23 earned runs on 70 hits in 65.1 innings of work.  He finished the season with two complete games, 23 walks and 37 strikeouts. 

The 2010 Gulf South Conference First Team All-West Division selection finished his career 9-1 overall with a 2.89 ERA in 23 career appearances and 14 starts.
