CLEVELAND- The University of Tampa (26-5) is moving on to the second round of the 2009 NCAA South Regional after defeating Clark-Atlanta, 70-63, in game two of the opening round Friday afternoon at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
The Spartans struggled in the first half shooting just 31 percent from the floor and trailed 33-30 at the break. UT quickly turned around in the second half, shooting 11-of-20 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from distance.
Hailee Sullivan finished with a game-high 21 points, leading the Spartans, while Shantress Thrash had a team-high 15 for the Panthers (26-5).
The Spartans will battle No.7 seed Ouachita Baptist in the semifinals Saturday at 6 p.m.
