National Signing Day: 29 Future Statesmen sign on dotted line

CLEVELAND, Miss. - Coach Jamey Chadwell and his staff began signing future Statesmen to the Delta State University Football family on Wednesday, the first official day student-athletes could sign an official NCAA National Letter of Intent.  The Statesmen added 29 signees and mid-year transfers on Wednesday.

JEREMY BOYD - DT - 6'3" - 268
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Boyd prepped at Hoover High School for coach Josh Niblett.  The 2011 The Birmingham News Super Senior helped guide HHS to the 2009 Alabama High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship and runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2011.  He was named honorable mention All-Metro and All-State by The Birmingham News.  He is the son of Paula Boyd.
TRENT DUNNE - DL - 6'1" - 275
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Dunne played for coach Josh Niblett at Hoover High School where he helped guide HHS to the 2009 Alabama High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship and runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2011.  Dunne was named to the The Birmingham News All-Metro First Team in 2010 and 2011 and 2011 First Team All-State.  He is the son of Dennis and Luanne Dunne.
JAMISON GOINS - DE - 6'3" - 265
Gulfport, Miss., native who played for coach Mike Justice at Gulfport High.  As a senior, Goins accounted for 124 tackles, 35 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks en route to being named All-State at defensive end.  Selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game and was named to the All-South Team.  He was also named his region's Most Valuable Player.   
DANIEL LaROCCA - OL - 6'1" - 270
Played for coach Scobel at Covington High School in Covington, La., for the past four years, lettering three.  Son of Tina and Charles LaRocca.  
RONDREAS TRUESDALE - RB - 5'11" - 175
A native of Indian Land, S.C., Truesdale played for coach Mayer and Indian Land High School where he earned four letters.  Son of Carolyn and Ronald Truesdale. Finished his junior season with 1,573 yards on 154 carries with 20 touchdowns. Primarily used as a quarterback and cornerback. Finished his senior season with 213 carries for 2,120 yards and 34 touchdowns.
PATRICK BETHLEY - WR - 5'11" - 185
Bethley is a four-year letter winner for coach Marcus Scott at West Jefferson High School in Harvey, La.  As a senior, Bethley grabbed 48 receptions for 1,148 yards and 15 touchdowns while being named a 2nd Team All-State selection by The Times Picayune.  He was also named to the All-District and All-Metro New Orleans Teams by The Times Picayune.  His junior season, Bethley caught 39 passes for 625 yards and two scores.  
WESLEY SANDERS - CB - 5'11" - 180
Prepped at Bessemer Academy in Bessemer, Ala., for head coach Josh Wright where he helped lead the Rebels to a State Championship as a senior. Finished the last two seasons with 168 combined tackles and 10 interceptions. 
LUCAS SHIPMAN - LB - 6'2" - 220
Prepped at Dutchtown High School under head coach Benny Saia where he earned three varsity letters. Named All District following his junior and senior seasons. Finished his senior season with 80 tackles, 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. His teams finished a combined 22-2 over his sophomore and junior seasons, including a state championship in 2010. 
CASEY OSBOURNE - WR - 6' 3" - 190
Lettered three seasons at Flowery Branch High School under coach Shaw, where he was named First Team All County, First Team All Region and Second Team All State. Finished the season with 58 catches for 991 yards and nine touchdowns. Hauled in 16 catches for 345 yards in playoff action, as the Falcons reached the third round. 
ERIC STEVENS - DB - 5'11" - 170 
Prepped at Craigmont High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he helped lead his team to back-to-back District Championships, as well as three straight playoff appearances. Was also named First Team All District. 
ERICK RODGERS - DE - 6'3" - 242 
Lettered three seasons at Starkville High School under the direction of head coach Jamie Mitchell. Finished his senior season with 47 tackles with 19 for loss, including six quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles. Named Second Team All State. Helped lead the Yellowjackets to the State Championship game. Named Large School Defensive Player of the Year by the Columbus Post Dispatch.
KRIS BRUMFIELD - RB - 5'8" - 180 
Lettered four seasons at St. Paul High School in Covington La., under the direction of coach Sears. Finished his senior season with 380 rushing yards with eight touchdowns. Also recorded 232 receiving yards with one touchdown. Helped lead St. Paul to a 10-1 record.             
TIM FOY - RB - 5'9" - 200
Prepped at Hueytown High School for coach Matt Scott.  The powerful running back that rushed for 1,095 yards as a senior with 14 touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns.  In his four-year career, Foy accounted for 56 varsity touchdowns.  Son of Felicia Foy-Neely and George Neely.
ED BOLEY - OL - 6'4" - 320
Played for legendary Louisiana prep coach Don Shows and the West Monroe Rebels.  Boley, an All-State and All-District selection, helped guide the Rebels to the Louisiana State 5A Championship as a senior with a perfect 15-0 record, defeating Archbishop Rummel 30-0 in the title tilt.  Also played on the defensive line and participated in Nike's Training Camp Program.     
ASHTON DAVIS - TE - 6'5" - 215
Davis played his junior and senior seasons for coach Steven Kilcrease at Pike Liberal Arts High School.  A native of Elba, Ala., Davis helped lead Pike to back-to-back Class 3A AISA State Championships.  As a senior, Davis grabbed 450 yards worth of passes with three touchdowns.  He also amassed 57 tackles with three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  Davis started 27-straight games for coach Kilcrease and Pike.  He is the son of Mark Davis and Robin GoMillion.  
SHAQUILLE MOORE - S - 5'11" - 185
Moore played four years of football for coach Slocolum at Fairley High School.  He was named to the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Best of the Preps and All-Memphis Metro Teams after totaling six interceptions his senior year.  He was also selected to play in the 2011 Toyota Tennessee All-Star Game.  Moore was also a track and field standout at FHS, claiming the Tennessee State Championship in the 110-Meter and 300-Meter Hurdles.  He also claimed the Memphis City Championships in the 100-Meter and 300-Meter Hurdles.  
JAMAL COLLIER - OL - 6'3" - 270
Collier lettered three years for coach Chris Michael at Millington High School in Millington, Tenn.  A three-year starter, Collier helped lead MHS to two District Championships and two playoff appearances during his time at the school.  He was named Team Captain, garnered All-District First Team and was selected to the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Best of the Preps.  He participated in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl East-West All-Star Game.    
BRIAN CARMICHAEL - OL - 6'3" - 315
Carmichael lettered three years for coach Chris Michael at Millington High School in Millington, Tenn.  A three-year starter, Carmichael helped lead MHS to two District Championships and two playoff appearances during his time at the school.
ISAAC DUTES - RB - 5'9" - 180
A native of Naples, Fla., Dutes played for Bill Kramer and the Naples High Golden Eagles. In his senior season, Dutes rushed 114 times for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had eight receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. A special teams threat, Dutes had 16 returns for 450 yards (28.13 avg/return), including a 99-yard return for a touchdown. As a junior, Dutes had 225 yards rushing on 39 carries with two touchdowns. The Golden Eagles won District Championships both seasons.
T.J. McDONALD - DL - 6'2" - 205
McDonald prepped for coach Kevin Freeman at Space Coast High School in Cocoa, Fla.  As a senior, named Most Valuable Player at SCHS after totaling 80 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss and 14 sacks.  He also accounted for three defensive touchdowns, three blocked punts, three blocked field goals and seven interceptions.  He finished the season ranked third in Brevard County in sacks and tackles-for-loss.  He finished his career with nine interceptions.  McDonald was named to Florida High School North All-Star Team and All-District teams.      
Barksdale
DONTE' BARKSDALE - WR - 5'8" - 160
A native of Holly Springs, Miss., Barksdale transfers in from Northeast Mississippi CC where he recorded 26 receptions for 317 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman and 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns. Barksdale played at Southaven High School under Ed Rich for three years. His sophomore year he posted 11 receptions for 96 yards and 1 touchdown; while during his senior campaign he recorded 34 receptions 595 yards and six touchdowns. He is the son of Steven and Patrycya Barksdale.

ED IMEOKPARIA - SS - 6'0" - 202
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., transfers in from Florida State University where he saw action on special teams against the University of Miami. Imeokparia, graduated high school in 2008 from Blair Academy and played for head coach Jim Stone. While at Blair Academy, Imeokparia, was named to the New Jersey All-Star team in the New Jersey and New York All-Star game presented by the National Football League Network. Imeokparia was also ranked the #7 athlete by Tom Lemming in the 2008 class. He is the son of Anthony and Kismet Imeokparia.
Weaver
CODY WEAVER - OL - 6'4" - 265
A product of Newnan, Ga., Weaver played under head coach Tommy Wallburn at Northgate High School for four years. Weaver earned 2010 First-Team All Region, First Team All County, and Newnan Time Harold Offensive Lineman of the Year accolades while at Northgate. Weaver also lettered two years in track and lacrosse. He is the son of Jeff and Yvonne Weaver.
ANDRE LUCIOUS – OL – 6' 1” - 325
Played two seasons at East Central Community College, where he started on the offensive line. Prepped at Tuscaloosa County High School where he earned two varsity letters under the direction of head coach Lee Gibson. Named Most Outstanding Lineman following his junior and senior seasons. Named First Team All State. Helped lead his team to a pair of undefeated seasons.
Hersey
DOMINIQUE HERSEY – OL – 6'2”- 260
Played two seasons at East Mississippi Community College where he helped lead the Lions to the 2011 NJCAA National Championship. Prepped at Meridian High School where he was named Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman as a senior. Also helped his team to the 5A State Championship as a senior.
VanBrunt
SPENCER VAN BRUNT – QB – 6'2” – 185
Played two seasons for coach Mike Darr at Diablo Valley College, where he spent one season at receiver and one at quarterback. Threw for 1,312 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions as sophomore at DVC. Played wide receiver as a freshman, grabbing 15 receptions for 198 yards.  Named Most Valuable Offensive Back as he ranked seventh in the state of California for quarterback rating as well as quarterback efficiency. Was an all-around athlete at Ygnacio Valley High School where he was named Athlete of the Year after being named All-Conference in football and basketball.
JUSTIN VEENSTRA - OL - 6'4" - 270
Played two seasons for former Statesmen head coach Steve Campbell at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.  Helped lead MGCCC to titles in 2010 and 2011, while lettering both seasons.  A native of Gulfport, Miss., Veenstra played for coach Mike Justice at Gulfport High School, where he lettered all four years.  A scholar in the classroom, Veenstra was named to the Principal's List and Dean's List all four years of high school and junior college.
DEVIN SLATE - DE - 6'2" - 277
Slate played the last two seasons at Northeast Mississippi Community College and head coach Rickey Smither.  Tallied 27 tackles with five tackles-for-loss and a sack as a sophomore this season.  As a freshman, played in seven games with 10 tackles.  The speedy and powerful Slate prepped at Oxford High School for coach Anthony Hart where he was named All-Area and All-District First Team.  He claimed the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship in powerlifting as a senior.  Slate closed his career with six high school letters (three football/three powerlifting).  Grandparents are Charles and Willie Mae Woods.
Melvin Blue
SHANE BLUE - TE - 6'4" - 240
Blue played two years at City College of San Francisco, where he helped guide CCSF to conference and California State Championships.  In his two year career, Blue grabbed 21 passes for 216 yards and four touchdowns.  He prepped at John C. Freemont High School for coach Frank Knight, earning four letters with three coming in basketball and one in football.  Named 1st Team All-Oakland Athletic Conference at FHS.  The Oakland, Calif., native is the son of Dawn Jamison.
