LIBERTY, Mo. - The D2Football.com Committee released their 2011 NCAA All-America team this morning. The list includes 100 players spread across two teams and a list of honorable mentions. The Statesmen were among 60 institutions to have a player named to the team. Three Statesmen received honors.
Micah Davis,
Darrell Leopold, and
Dominique Davenport all received D2Football.com's Honorable Mention award.
Davenport, a senior cornerback for the Statesmen, recorded five interceptions this past season, and 15 pass breakups. Davenport set a school record with 15 career interceptions in his four seasons at Delta State.
Leopold, a senior center, was the centerpiece of the offensive line that protected Davis. The senior quarterback passed for 3,764 yards and 23 touchdowns, and also rushed for 13 touchdowns during the 2011 season.
