CLEVELAND - Delta State University junior golfer
Chase Smith has been chosen as one of four individuals that will compete in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional at the Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C from May 3-5.
Smith, a native of Vicksburg has been the Statesmen's most consistent performer all year, averaging 74 strokes a round. He finished 5th at the Gulf South Conference Championships, while being named to the Gulf South Conference All-Tournament team.
The Vicksburg native was also a Second Team All-GSC selection and won the North Alabama Spring Classic on the Fighting Joe Course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Florence, Ala after shooting a 75 and an impressive 69 - solidifying himself as one of the top competitors in the Gulf South Conference.
Smith was the 2nd overall selection for the highly coveted spot behind fellow GSC rival Ben Cuzen of Valdosta State. Bryn Powers of West Georgia and Zach Potter of Florida Tech will join Smith in North Carolina to battle it out in the field of 108.
