BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team was picked to finish sixth on Tuesday in a poll of the GSC coaches.
Sophomore shortstop
Emily Todd garnered Preseason All-Conference honors after posting an outstanding freshman campaign in which she led DSU in all offensive categories.
The Lady Statesmen recieved one fourth place vote, three fifth place votes, one sixth place vote and one seventh place vote.
After reaching the National Championship game in 2011, the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers were picked to win the league. Valdosta State was picked to finish second, followed by West Alabama, West Florida, North Alabama, Delta State, West Georgia and Christian Brothers.
DSU will open its 2012 season on Friday, Feb. 10th at the Henderson State tournament.
