NCAA South Region Final Results
TAMPA, Fla. - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen Cross Country team put a wrap on an exciting 2011 campaign with a seventh place finish Saturday, Nov. 5 at the NCAA South Regional hosted by the University of Tampa. Led by
Stacey Hagenson, who was named All-South Region after finishing 14th, the Lady Statesmen amassed 195 points to finish behind region champion Tampa (28).
"Very please overall with our season and excited about the future," stated DSU head coach
Doug Pinkerton. "We had a record setting season and I believe this will propel us into next year and beyond."
Hagenson, a sophomore from Poplarville, Miss., finished the event in 23:31 to claim 14th overall and NCAA All-South Region accolades for a second straight season.
Hannah Grace Whitaker claimed 35th with a 24:25 followed by
Alyssa Shetley in 36th with a 24:26 and
Annalee Pierce in 48th with a 24:47.
Landi Tubertini claimed a 62nd place finish with a 25:20 to round out the scorers for DSU.
Amanda Corneilison was 89th with a 27:16 and
Maddie Glass 104th with a 30:00.
Tampa claimed the team title with 28 points followed by West Florida in second with 127. Both teams advanced to the NCAA National Championships in Tacoma, Wash., later this month. Complete team results are below.
