Lady Statesmen set to compete in NCAA Division II Cross Country South Regional

The Lady Statesmen will compete in the NCAA South Regional on Saturday
TAMPA, Fla.-The Delta State University Lady Statesmen cross country team will have possibly the biggest race in school history on Saturday, as they will participate in the NCAA Division II Cross Country South Regional in Tampa, Fla.

The Lady Statesmen had the best finish in school history at the Gulf South Conference Championship, finishing second to the University of West Florida in the 5k event. 

Sydney Dover Trails, 15 miles from the University of Tampa campus will host the 6k event, in which the top two teams qualify for the NCAA Championships.

"I think we have a really good chance to make nationals," said Lady Statesmen coach Doug Pinkerton. "We have done very well in 6k races this year," Pinkerton added. 

The event is set to begin on Saturday Nov. 5 at 7 a.m. CST
