KILLEN, Ala. -
Luke Brown is the lead Statesmen after two rounds of the TVA Credit Union Invitational at Turtle Point Country Club. Teams played two rounds on the first day of the event and Brown finds himself tied for 20th place in the North Alabama hosted event.
Brown shot rounds of 76 and 71 on the par-72 course, for 3-over par overall to lead the Statesmen, who sit in 10th place after the first day. Heading into the final day, he is within five strokes of fourth place.
North Alabama's Jake Greer and Blaine Wilson have the top two spots in the individual competition. Greer shot two rounds of 67 for a four-stroke lead of 10-under par. Wilson shot two rounds of 69. Northern Kentucky's Michael Schmidt sits in third at 4-under par.
In the team competition, North Alabama has an 18-shot lead overall as the Lions are the only team under par after day one.
Caleb Westmoreland shot the best first round of the day for the Statesmen with a 2-over par 74. However, a 6-over par second round has Westmoreland in a tie for 41st place.
Trey Howell and
Grant Goforth both shot rounds of 74 in the second round of the day. Howell sits in a tie for 31st after a 76 in round one that sees him at 6-over par overall. Goforth is tied for 36th place, just one stroke behind Howell after a 77 in round one.
Justin Glenn sits in a tie for 67th place at 13-over par overall with rounds of 75 and 82.
The Statesmen will look to rebound in day two of the invitational as Delta State is within seven strokes of five teams.
