BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Former Delta State University All-American centerfielder Alyse Hasty (2003-06) was named the Gulf South Conference Co-West Division Player of the Decade on Thursday, while the Lady Statesmen placed five players on the All-Decade First or Second Team.

Alabama-Huntsville and Arkansas-Monticello dominated the Gulf South Conference Softball All-Decade Teams released today. The Chargers have five players on the East Division First Team and six overall. The Cotton Blossoms claimed six spots on the First Team and nine spots overall. In all, each of the 13 schools currently in the conference have a representative on either the First or Second teams.

Alabama-Huntsville catcher Stephanie Pinto was selected GSC East Division Player of the Decade. Pinto was a three-time All-American and GSC Player of the Year. She is the all-time conference leader in home runs with 57 while also placing among the top 10 in career runs batted in, doubles, slugging percentage and runs scored.

The GSC West Division Players of the Decade are Arkansas-Monticello first baseman Meredith Heckel and Delta State outfielder Alyse Hasty. Heckel, the 2007 GSC West Player of the Year, ranks in the GSC top 10 in 13 single-season and career categories, including an all-time-best 189 total bases in 2007.

Hasty, a St. Louis, Mo., native, was a two-time GSC West Player of the Year and an All-American in 2006. She holds the GSC mark for career steals (135), steals in one season (59) and runs in one season (77).

Alabama-Huntsville's Sage Woodham earned GSC East Division Pitcher of the Decade honors. She posted 91career wins, a 1.22 earned run average and 607 strikeouts – all among the Top-10 in GSC history. The GSC West Division Pitcher of the Decade is Arkansas-Monticello's Lindsey Kight. The three-time All-South Region and two-time GSC Player of the Year owns league records for consecutive wins, career strikeouts, career no-hitters and career ERA.

Arkansas-Monticello head coach Alvy Early is the GSC West Division Coach of the Decade. During the last decade, UAM has won seven GSC West titles and advanced to three NCAA Tournaments, reaching as high as the Super Regional in 2010. Early has also won two GSC Coach of the Year honors. Under Stuedeman, the Chargers have never had a losing season and she and her coaching staff have won the South Region Coaching Staff of the Year award three times during the decade.
