CLEVELAND - It's become one of the deep south's most competitive and entertaining collegiate golf tournaments and this Friday and Saturday the Delta State University men's golf team will welcome over 12 teams to the annual Derrall Foreman Classic at the Cleveland Country Club. Play begins Friday morning at 8 a.m.
"We have one of the strongest fields in recent memory," stated DSU head coach and tournament host
Sam Dunning. "The course is in great shape and the weather forecast looks promising."
This year's field includes: Arkansas-Monticello, Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas Tech (A&B), Mississippi College, Lambuth, North Alabama (A&B), Mobile College, Lindenwood (A&B), Henderson State and Delta State.
The last two Foreman Classic's have been nail-biters, as the prevailing team had to battle to the 18th and final hole. This year's event promises to be just as good or better.
"It's nice to be able to host a tournament at your home course and the Foreman Classic has really grown over the years. Coach Foreman directed this program for a very long time and this tournament pays tribute to his hard work and dedication to golf and Delta State," concluded Dunning.
