MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.-Delta State University golf team member Brandon Hartzell is charging up the leaderboard after shooting a -1 under par 71 during the second round of play at the NCAA Division II South Region Golf Tournament.
Hartzell is currently in a sixth place tie with five other players after his -1 under par round. He finished the round five shots off the lead of Chris Goldan of Lynn University. Goldan has the lead after shooting -5 under par in the first round. The tournament is being played at the famed Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals course.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native is representing Delta State University as an individual after his strong performance at the Gulf South Conference Tournament. Should Hartzell finish in the top two of the individual group, and no others from non-qualifying teams place above him, the senior would advance to the NCAA Championship.
Final round play will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
