Lady Statesmen continue winning ways

CLEVELAND-The Delta State University women's tennis team moved their season record to 5-2 after winning their last three matches. In the 6-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist on March 5, Krystle Ozols, Amanda Cornelison, and Priscila Duarte each picked up wins in singles play.

Tatiana Bouchaud and Cecile Benzaki picked up a tough 9-8 (7-4) win in doubles play. Also winning doubles matches were the teams of Lisa Jamais/Krystle Ozols and Milena Araujo/Priscila Duarte.

The Lady Statesmen continued their momentum into a GSC match with Christian Brothers, where they picked up a dominating 9-0 win over the Lady Buccaneers. DSU only dropped a total of 5 games in the nine matches.

On March 10, the West Alabama Tigers came Cleveland for a match with DSU, the Lady Statesmen did not disappoint the home crowd, winning 7-0.

Cecile Benzaki, Lisa Jamis, Milena Araujo, Krystle Ozols, Priscila Duarte, and Amanda Cornelison each picked up wins in singles play.

The teams of Benzaki/Bouchaud, Jamais/Ozols, and Duarte/Araujo swept the doubles competition as well.

The Lady Statesmen return to action on March 14, as they travel to Fairfield Bay, Ark., to take on Henderson State in a GSC contest.
