Lardester Hicks-Green will suit up one final time for the Statesmen at the Valero Cactus Bowl, the NCAA Division II All-Star game, Friday, January 8 at 6:35 p.m. at Javelina Stadium.
"We're very excited for Brad and Ladester this week at the Cactus Bowl," stated head coach Ron Roberts. "They will be exposed to NFL and professional scouts and they will have the opportunity to showcase their talents for evaluators at the next level. It's a tremendous opportunity."
Hicks-Green, a four-time All-Gulf South Conference and three-time All-American, concluded his senior season as the all-time leading tackler in Delta State and GSC history with 343. The 2009 American Football Coaches Association All-American finished his senior season with 94 tackles and 15.0 tackles-for-loss.
The 2008 GSC and Super Region II Defensive Player of the Year also established a new single game record for tackles this season with 20 stops versus Valodsta State on Oct. 1, 2009.
Latham, a four-year starter on the offensive line at left guard and right tackle, capped his senior season by being named to the All-Gulf South Conference First Team and Daktronics All-Super Region II Teams. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Tuscaloosa, Ala., native finished first on the team in knockdown/pancake blocks and graded at 90-percent ot better in every game this season for the green-and-white.
The players will arrive in Kingsville on Saturday, January 2. They will go through NFL testing on Sunday with practices set for begin on Monday. The Valero Cactus Bowl will be televised on Fox College Sports and will be broadcast by ESPN Sports Radio of Kingsville.
