MEMPHIS – Sarah Katherine Ryan ended 66 minutes of scoreless play with her fourth goal of the season to lift Christian Brothers to a 1-0 win over Delta State on Wednesday in the Gulf South Conference opener for both teams.

Sam Le Jeune absorbed the loss in goal for the Lady Statesmen (2-5) despite making 11 saves in the match. Le Jeune has been on the tough end of three 1-0 losses this season.

The Bucs outshot the Lady Statesmen 23-7 in the match. The Lady Statesmen let fly of flurry of shots between the 48th and 50th minutes, but were unable to register a shot in the last 40 minutes of play.

The Lady Statesmen will play their first home game of the season Friday when they host West Georgia at Delta Field. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
