DELTA STATE’S MATT JONES TO RECEIVE ALL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL FOUNDATION SCOOP HUDGINS AWARD JACKSON – Delta State University’s Matt Jones, Director of Athletic Media Relations, has been named the recipient of the Scoop Hudgins Outstanding Sports Information Director of the Year Award, as presented by the All-American Football Foundation. The award will be presented Thursday, May 15 at the 93rd Banquet of Champions at the Hollywood Resort Hotel in Tunica. Jones, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., is in his fourth year as the primary contact for all Statesmen and Lady Statesmen intercollegiate sports. It is his seventh year overall with the Department of Athletics. He is responsible for the overall media presence of the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen athletic programs. This includes media guide production, website development and writing of press releases. He also serves as the "Voice of the Statesmen nation" on the Statesmen Sports Radio Network. Prior to taking the position of Director of Athletic Media Relations, Jones served as the Director of the Statesmen Sports Network and coordinated the marketing efforts for DSU Athletics. Jones, a 2003 graduate of Delta State University, also serves as an adjunct instructor for DSU. He is married to the former Meg Warren of Dekalb. The Scoop Hudgins Award is selected by the awards committee of the AAFF. The AAFF was founded in 1994 and supported by 165 colleges and universities nationwide. The All-American Football Foundation is a private 501c 3 organization established to honor individuals for distinguished contributions to the game of football in all phases of the game. |
